War was the main topic on everyones mind throughout the 20th century and design took a turn in this direction as well. Propaganda posters to keep up worker morale, promote the war effort, let the average citizen know what was being achieved were being plastered publically everywhere. Many of these have moved into pop culture today and are still recognizable such as pin-up girls which became more popular during this period and are still made up to this day, though focus has shifted from war to the middle class home to fashion today. Pin-ups were like business cards for models in this time and could be found all over, in newspapers, magazines and later on were developed into posters because of their popularity. This page will look at other forms of propaganda posters during World War 2 and the Cold War periods and their content differences in countries such as Japan, Germany, Russia, America and Europe.
